Angler Base (the "app") is a digital fishing assistant. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we process and why. In short: the app collects as little data as possible; most of your data stays on your device only.

1. Data we process

Location (approximate): To measure the weather/marine conditions at your fishing spot and the water depth there. The latitude/longitude obtained with approximate-location permission (no street-level precise location is requested) is sent to our server for the momentary conditions and depth query; it is not stored permanently and is not linked to your identity.
Purchase information: If you buy a subscription, the transaction runs through your device's app-store (Google Play) billing system. We do not see or store your payment/card details — the store provider handles them. For fraud prevention, a pseudonymous device identifier that is not linked to your identity is passed to Google Play billing.
Abuse prevention (Play Integrity): To protect our servers against automated abuse, a verification token from the Google Play Integrity service is sent to our server together with condition/species queries. This token verifies app and device integrity; it contains no information such as your name or personal identity.
Your saved spots and settings: The fishing spots you save and the app settings are kept on your device only (local storage); they are not sent to our server.

2. Use of data and legal basis

The data collected is used only for the app's functions: measuring weather/marine conditions by location, determining water depth and providing species information. It is not used for advertising and is not sold to third parties.

This processing rests on your explicit consent for location data, and on legitimate interest for providing the service and preventing abuse (GDPR Art. 6). You can withdraw location permission from your device settings at any time.

3. Third-party service providers

To provide the service we work with a limited number of providers. For commercial confidentiality we list them by their function, without naming brands:

Weather and marine forecast provider: Your location coordinates are queried through our server to obtain the weather/marine forecast. The query is made server-side; no information identifying you is passed to the provider.
Map, depth and place-search services: For the map view, the water depth of the point you select and place-search/geocoding, the app may connect directly to the relevant external services. In these connections only the relevant location coordinate is passed; your name, identity or any information identifying you is not sent, and no user profile is created on these services.
Managed cloud hosting provider: The calculation engines and knowledge base run on a secure cloud infrastructure; only momentary query data is processed, and no user profile is kept.
App-store payment system: Subscription purchases run through your device's app-store billing infrastructure; we do not see or store your payment/card details.

Species images are served from our own server; no third-party image archive is used for this, and no personal data is shared.

4. International data transfer

Some of the providers we work with to deliver the service (cloud hosting, weather/marine data, map and payment infrastructure) may have servers outside Türkiye (e.g. in the European Union or the United States). In that case, technical data such as location coordinates may be transferred to these infrastructures solely to provide the relevant service. The transferred data is limited to minimal technical data that does not identify you.

5. Data security

All data going to our servers and to third-party services is transmitted with current encryption (HTTPS/TLS). We protect our servers against automated abuse with Google Play Integrity. Because we keep no personal account and store most data on your device only, the personal data held server-side is minimal.

6. Data retention and deletion

Your saved spots and settings are kept on your device; when you uninstall the app, this data is deleted from your device. The momentary location queries sent to the server are not stored permanently.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR you have the right to learn whether your personal data is processed, to request information, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to processing. Because the app keeps no personal account and most data stays on your device only, you can completely delete your saved spots and settings by uninstalling the app. For other requests, you can reach us through our contact form.

8. Permissions

The app uses these permissions: location (fishing-spot detection), internet (weather and condition queries) and flashlight/flash (the Torch feature). You can manage permissions from your device settings; if you decline location permission, location-based features won't work, but the other parts of the app remain usable.

9. Children's privacy

The app is intended for adults; it is not directed to children below the applicable age of digital consent (13–16 depending on the country) and does not knowingly collect data from them.
